Nocturnal Festival - SoCal (200+ Photos)

"Los Angeles, September 26, 2010 – A record-breaking 42,000 music fans braved the 100+ degree heat to gather at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California for Insomniac’s 15th annual Nocturnal Festival."

The Vibe...

This was the first time I had a chance to cover an Insomniac Event. The sheer size of their events has always come off as being a little intimidating for me coming from the mid-west but the one thing I have learned about these large scale events is more people = more money.  Insomniac clearly puts this back into their shows and it makes the ticket worth every penny you spend. The stunning production work and logistics it takes to put an event like nocturnal together is breathtaking. There really is nothing else like Insomniac events that I have been to.

The Music...

The music is obviously the main draw for these events and this years roster didn't disappoint. The only complaint I have about this outstanding line-up would be how slowly it trickled out this year. It seemed like there were big name additions being made within a week before the event. The sound was also great. for having three of the stages lined up next to each other there was surprisingly very little bleed from one to the next which is probably due to the massive tent structures. The largest of which was the biggest ever seen on the West Coast. With a second story VIP area, black interior walls, 56 foot high ceilings and 78,000 square feet of space.

The Word...
Insomniac continues to impress with their continued high end production and their continued fascination with raising the bar, even if they raise it on themselves.

HiUp on a building in LA on a Sunday...

The Vibe...

Nothing like an awesome rooftop poolside party to help you unwind from the week. Good vibes and outstanding music is the only way Potty Mouth  Music really knows how to do it. Personally this was the most fun I have had at an event in well over a year. All three Potty Mouth events I have been to out here have had a Mid-West feel to them. A good thing when you are surrounded by so much fake ass plastic coated crap out here. Personally the vibe they bring to the Los Angeles area is a much needed addition.

The Music...

The beats were outstanding. More the reason for the show than just going some where to temporarily change your state of mind. Only positive things can be said when listening to these fresh artists throw down their own remixes and tracks into the mix. Out of the artists I heard, Santiago & Bushido were great and TJR was equally as dope. Wish I could have heard Amato play but hey, maybe next time.

The Word...

I can't wait to see where this all goes. The scene out here is a crowded one but if anyone belongs, it's the Potty Mouth crew and the great, electro, fidget and tech house they bring with them. Be sure to check out there website at...

The Vibe...

After being in the scene for a decade and a half I feel like I have seen just about everything. It's rare there is anything that makes my jaw drop anymore but this party did just that. It's hard for me to give this event a full review due to the fact that the venues security (Not High Bird Productions) removed me from the event for merely sliding down the last two feet of a staircase railing. This review is based on the time I was there. Asshole security aside, the vibe at this party was through the roof. Not a massive by any means but perfect for it's size. The production crew seems like they had all their bases covered with this.

The Music...

The music was mostly top notch electro house on a great system. The beats were solid and the cheese factor minimal, just the way I like it. Good taste in talent for sure!

The Word...

High Bird Productions is a group to keep your eye on. With their parties getting better with each one, they sky is the limit with these guys.
